Short bio:

Hongyin is a PhD student in Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Queen’s University. He joined the FEBUS lab in September 2026 and works with Prof. Barbara da Silva and Prof. Francesco Ambrogi. He is fascinated by turbulent flows, particularly boundary layers, wake flow, and flow structure interactions.

Project:

Hongyin’s research focuses on pulsatile flows around wall-mounted obstacles using a combination of numerical simulations and experiments. His work aims to understand how pulsation characteristics and obstacle geometry affect flow separation and wake dynamics. By combining detailed flow measurements with numerical simulations, the project seeks to clarify the underlying flow mechanisms and to develop benchmark cases for the validation of numerical methods and future studies of pulsatile flows.
